As a specialist in real estate litigation, Simon is a trail-blazer in the area of workout and lender liability. In addition, he has extensive experience handling legal challenges involving eminent domain, zoning and land use issues, contract disputes, partnership disputes, trademark disputes, patents and trade secrets.

Prior to Bloom Sugarman, Simon was the lead Partner with the well-respected real estate and construction litigation group at Powell Goldstein, LLP.

A trial lawyer in every sense, Simon has tried high stakes civil matters at both the state and federal level throughout the nation, with great success, and is regularly considered on the “short list” for hotly contested civil matters that are heading toward trial. Though going to trial is a last resort for many, having someone with advanced experience presenting before judges and juries enhances one’s position in the midst of a civil dispute.

Simon is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where he earned both his B.A., with distinction, and J.D. He is licensed to practice by the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia.

As active in his community as he is in his profession, Simon participates with many groups and organizations. Professional memberships include the Bleckley Inn of Court – Master, the Georgia State University School of Law Board of Visitors, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, Leadership Dekalb (Class of 2006), State Bar of Georgia General Practice and Trial and Real Property Sections. Community leadership roles include the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (Chairman and Board of Directors), Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta (Executive Committee Corporate Board of Directors) and the Marcus Autism Center (Advisory Council Board).

In addition to providing personalized attention to his clients and their legal needs, Simon writes and teaches legal seminars and CLE sessions throughout the Southeast and served nine years as an adjunct professor at Emory University, where he taught the pre-trial litigation clinic. Simon has been recognized by the Fulton County Daily Report as one of 12 lawyers spotlighted in its annual “On the Rise” edition, and the Atlanta Business Chronicle chose Simon as one of its “Top 40 Under 40” list that showcases the city’s most accomplished young leaders in their industry and community. Georgia Super Lawyers lists Simon as one of the Top 100 lawyers in Georgia. He is included as a Super Lawyer and Rising Star for the past several years. In addition, Georgia Trend magazine regularly includes him in its annual Legal Elite edition.

Not only has Simon been recognized for his professional service, he’s routinely recognized for the work he does to serve his community. He has twice been appointed by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to the Governor’s Commission on Public Service and Volunteerism. Governor Perdue has also named Simon to the state board of the Department of Community Affairs, where Simon serves as Chairman. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club named Simon its BGCMA 2012 Board Member of the Year.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Simon now lives in the Virginia Highlands neighborhood of Atlanta. For nearly 15 years, he has hosted the popular Pig Gig in his backyard. This annual charity event raises money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta, bringing in $10K in 2014. But no matter how busy he is, Simon always makes time for his Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, Burton.
